YFC Summer Camp Offers Students A Time to Let Go
This Summer, YFC had a 2-day camp with an amazing group of students. We bonded through exciting games, awesome worship, and memorable testimonies shared by guest speakers from C4 Church. The time we have at clubs on campus is so vital and rewarding, but having an extended period of time to dig deep with these students and connect with them is a blessing. It was a safe place for them to get away from all the things they are going through and a chance for them to share about their struggles. While dropping off students at home, one student who almost didn’t come in the first place said, “Camp was really good. I just wish it was longer.”
The struggles these students shared represent a small percentage of much bigger issues they are facing. Our recent Student Exit Survey shows that the lockdowns negatively affected students’ health, grades, relationships and involvement in sports. Sadly, students reported a sharp decline in emotional well-being, with depression and suicidal thoughts up to over 55%. Similar to what students shared at camp, our survey found that over 20% of the students have experienced molestation and domestic abuse due to prolonged lockdowns. Please pray for the students at our upcoming camp. Thank you for helping YFC give these young people a shoulder to lean on and someone to listen to them.
