Through the Years and During COVID YFC's Heart Kept Beating for the Lost

Joy (center) finds friendship during a Regional Club Gathering

"Ever since second grade I found myself misunderstanding my teachers and lagging behind my peers academically. It seemed like everyone was moving forward together and I was the only one that was lost and falling behind. I was bullied because I wasn’t ‘smart’ and I started skipping school at a young age because I was ashamed. In middle school I was held back a grade. I felt like I was stupid and that everyone was disappointed in me. I struggled with severe bouts of depression. I constantly felt lonely and unsure of myself.  Distance learning during Covid was extremely difficult. Thankfully, YFC clubs and events has helped me along the years. They were a weekly dose of encouragement. YFC helps me to refocus on God and place my identity and worth in Him. Learning that God is good and has a plan for my life helps me combat my negative thoughts. I know that I’m probably never going to be the smartest person in a room, and I know that these dark thoughts may never fully leave me, but I’ve learned skills and truths to help me navigate this life as a new graduate. I’m thankful for YFC and all the years they’ve been there for me."
